DSC03543With the hope of serving more than 60 people as the New Abensu Residential area becomes an area with an increasing Muslim population.

The Muslim Jamaat was pleased to be informed that on 2nd May, 2015, Muslim leaders in the area together with Muslims within Ga West will be inaugurating a New Mosque in Abensu, a suburb of Pokuase.

It is the newest place of worship and more or less a community center for Muslims within the area, the Mosque which I`m yet to ascertain its official name opened Saturday with the recitation of the complete Glorious Qur`an, which was accompanied with a Khuthbah (sermon).

Several officials and community members were on hand to witness the opening ceremony.
The Zongo chief of the local communities Alhaji Abdulah Awudu praised the effort of Malam Abdul Rauf to promote Islam in an area which is much new to Islamic practices and doctrines.

Noticeable among the dignitaries who came to grace the ceremony was also the Member of Parliament for the Trobu Constituency who also doubles as a resident of the local area showed appreciation to the Muslim community for accepting him into their mosque and for showing high standard of morality within their various communities in the Municipality.

He urged all to come onboard to support the good leadership under the community Chief, Imams and all opinion leaders to foster a fortified frontier to promote cultural understanding. He spoke that education was very key in today’s competitive era and as such we must be extra keen on educating our children for a better future.

Conversing with Malam Abdul Rauf he stated that, the Mosque is very vital to our community and in building a great future for our families. He indicated further that his main goal is to serve Allah and to help others get a proper place of worship within our area and to also make sure our kids are raised well, are successful and making a positive impact in today’s society.
Pokuase together with its surrounding communities has less than 8 Mosques serving about 1,000 or more Muslims. With an increasing Muslim population within these communities, every Muslim in the area was delighted and saw that in the right direction as they further appeal for more Mosques.
The Mosque has a capacity of housing more than 60 people including women and children.

After a successful opening ceremony, people celebrated with food and drinks.
